Hobbes!

I decided that Calvin needed to be Calvin for at least one Halloween. So therefore I needed to find or make him a Hobbes.  So naturally I crocheted him.  I found a free pattern online, though I did make a few modifications (he needed whiskers and I added more white to his face.  Something I should have done while creating the head but it was an afterthought.)

Sweet baby moment

Calvin was difficult to get to sleep tonight.  Should have expected it though, he had a good long nap and I was even able to nap for a bit.  We are both fighting colds so it was very much needed.

I gave in after him crying and crying and crying, brought him downstairs so that Peyton could at least fall asleep.  He built himself a nest on the couch of blankets.  I gave her 10 minutes to fall asleep (though she was probably out in 30 seconds).  And tried again with him...

2 minutes later "mommy, mommy, mommy"   ugh

He sounded desperate.  Back up to check.  "my blankie"  He kicked had kicked it off.  So I tucked him back in and gave him a kiss goodnight. again. 

"thank you mommy"   oh fine, just melt my heart after all that.

Kids can't tell time!

You think I would know better by now but still every weekend I hope the kids will sleep in at least a little. But no. it doesn't happen. 6 am. We usually get up at 6:30 during the week. 6 am? Who gets up that early on Saturday?!?
And then the week starts and apparently I didn't turn on my alarm.  So naturally the kids sleep in til 7. They are so backwards!

P's bus comes at 7:13. I told her we could hurry and get her in the bus or take our time and drive her. Decided to just take her.  And of course the bus was 10 minutes late.  Figures.

Fall

Its here!

I'm looking forward to going on walks with the kids to find colorful leaves.

Drinking hot chocolate and snuggling under a blanket to read them a book.

Watching Calvin splash through the puddles.

Visiting a pumpkin patch.

Carving pumpkins.

Making pumpkin pies with the kids so they can enjoy it.

I love fall.

And soon it will be time to drive around looking at Christmas lights.  But I won't rush that.

Giving this another try

I have decided to try to jump back into blogging. Posting the family happenings here instead of on facebook. I know that not everyone cares what kind of food my kids finally tried or how many teeth they lost. Since its been almost 2 years I might do a quick catch up. Summer was busy, having as much fun as we could before time was up. The combination of the heat and wildfires in the area made doing outside activities impossible. We did manage to get some good stuff in, like Miss P learning to ride her bike, that was a big step.

Now school started a bit ago and we are back into that routine, going to bed early, getting up too early to make lunch and get dressed before running out to catch the bus. P is in 1st grade, so its all day now, just started bringing homework home, loves her teacher, school, made lots of new friends. So far I'd say its a success.

C is home with me and has turned into a typical 2 year old boy. Hes still tiny but that doesn't seem to stop him, he always finds a way. This morning he woke up before the rest of us, came downstairs and turned all the lights on and proceeded to play till I woke up. Keeps me on my toes.

The elf

Our little elf has been quite busy every day.  I have snapped lots of pics, just haven't gotten around to posting them.   Here are some places we have caught her lately.

She was found one morning playing with Peyton's race car track.  She sure liked the bright pink car.

Then she decided to take a ride on Celestia, the unicorn pegasus pony

She was caught fishing in the fish tank, she even found an elf sized fishing pole!

She brought us all new, personalized stockings!

She even found some that matched the tree skirt we got last year.

This morning she was going for a ride with barbie.
